Bund

The Bund is located near the confluence of the HuangPu and SuZhou River.




A symbol of Shanghai for its great variety of colonial architectural styles.

Like an International construction exhibition, the magnificent buildings reflect ancient English, French, East India, Renaissance, Gothic Modern Western and other styles.

At night the Bund is at its most charming. colourful lights illuminate the whole Bund area.

The imposing line of building including the Customs House (1927), Peace Hotel (1906), Bank of China (1936), The Hong Kong and Shanghai Bank (1923), Shanghai Club (1911).

Jade Buddha

Jade Buddha Temple
is famous for its two Jade Buddha statues,each carved out of a rare single piece of white Burmese Jade. They were brought from Burma by a Chinese monks in 1890.
The small graceful reclining Buddha when he is passing into Nirvana (in Buddhism,state in which individuality becomes extinct by being absorbed into the supreme spirit) and the larger seated Buddha decorated by lot of precious stones on his robes, he is at the moment of enlightenment.
The temple was built in 1911-1918. it is located in the northwest part of the city. It has a restaurant offering interesting vegetarian food.
Yu GardenYu Garden

Chinese gardens were a microcosm, it is the sophisticated art combining several different elements such as pavilions, corridors, small hills and carefully selected and placed rocks,lotus ponds with goldfish swimming in them, bridges, winding paths,trees and shrubs to create a world in miniature. The skilful gardener has the qualities of a painter,poet,architect,and sculptor. He can construct his own world in a confined space.
Yu Garden Yu Garden
Yu Garden, a fully restored classical Chinese garden. Built in 1577 by a city official named Pan Yunduan who thought to create an idyllic spot for his father's old age. Although the Yu Garden occupies less than five acres it seems far larger. There are many details in the Yu Garden to look out for. Each section is divided up by white curving walls that are toped by the undulating body of a dragon. The walls end with splendidly carved dragon head. The garden contains over 30 pavilions and labyrinth of stairs,corridors and pathways.
  1. Three-Ears-of Corn Hall is the largest structure in the Garden. Carved on its doors and windows are rice ears,millet,wheat seedlings,melons and fruit which symbols of plenty. Note the essay displayed on the wall facing the entrance is the first owner of Yu Garden-Pan Yunduan.
  2. The corridor over the pond leading to the best scenery - The Grand Rockery,built of 2,000 tonnes of yellow stone quarried from Zhejiang Province and cemented together with a kind of rice glue,stands 14 meter high in the heart of the garden.
  3. 'Yu Le Xie' at the foot of the rockery,beside a pool is the Pavilion for Viewing Frolicking fish.
  4. The Exquisite Jade Rock(Yuling Long) a large,curiously shaped rock,standing in front of the Hall of Jade Magnificence (Yu Huan Tang)which is intended for the collection of northern song dynasty (960-1127)
  5. The hall of mildness (He Xu Tang) which contains a century-old set of furniture make of banyan tree roots.
  6. Hall of Heralding Spring (Dianchun Tang) During the Taiping Rebellion,. Some citizens of Shanghai known as the 'Society of Little Swords' joined the peasant uprising against the Qing dynasty organizing a rebellion form within the walls of the city in 1853 they used the ball as their headquarters.
Tea House
Mid-lake tea-house
which is the oldest inhabited part of Shanghai, the streets are still narrow and crowded, the classical style buildings give the old town a special air that hints of past adventure and strange happenings, you can see lots of interesting selection of goods and service in the special area.
When you get tired of walking around the Old Town you can rest in the beautiful old mid-lake tea-house which stands in the middle of pool near the entrance to the Yu Garden. Tea House The bridge of nine turnings to the old five sided tea-house pavilion.(it is said, the evil spirits can not turn corners.) One of tea-house's most famous visitors in recent times was Britain's Queen Elizabeth 2nd,whose tour of Shanghai, included a stop there for a cup of tea. The fine green tea not only has its delicate fragrance and mellowness but also its typical pure green color.


Tea House Shanghai Museum is a comprehensive museum of art, it is one of the four largest museums in China: Nan Jing, Bei Jing, Tea House the works of art shown collection of 12,400 pieces in 21 categories of valuable cultural relics: bronze, ceramics, calligraphy, painting, sculpture, seal, jade, furniture, coins and minority nationalities' art. spanning from the Neolithic Age through Ming and Qing dynasties until modern times. The shape of the building is like a giant bronze tripod, graceful and solemn.
