Operation
  • The Super Scanner MD3003B1 operates on one 9 Volt standard or rechargeable battery. To install the battery, slide off the battery cover and place the battery into its compartment while matching the +/- symbols

  • Turn the unit on by pushing the on/off switch until it clicks on and the green LED is lit. The detector is now operational although an increase in sensitivity and depth range can be achieved by turning the sensitivity adjuster until the red LED is lit and a constant audio tune is heard. Turn the sensitivity adjuster ( anti-clockwise) until the red LED just goes out and the tone fades. The detector is now tuned for optimum sensitivity and depth range.

  • Hold in the unit with the detection face towards the surface, sweep backwards and forwards continuously at a height of 10-30 mm above the area to be scanned

  • The presence of metal will be indicated by the audio warning tone and the red light coming on. If the detector is held still over an metal object the detection signal will automatically reduce, therefore it is important that the unit is continually scanning the surface when in use.
Low sensitivity operation
Press the low sensitivity switch during detection, scanner will then only respond to bigger metal objects such as a hand gun, knife, etc and will not respond to small metals such as a coin, key, hatpin, etc. Do not release the low sensitivity switch until you complete low sensitivity detection.

Rechargeable Battery Socket
  • You may use a 9 volt rechargeable battery to power the detector
  • It takes four to six hours to fully charge the battery. The battery charger socket is located at the side of the detector

Vibrator button
The detetor is equipped with a vibrator button also located at the side of ther detector. Vibration function should be used in noisy work situations or in places where the operator does not wish for the audio tune to be heard in his surrounding area. Press this button, vibrator works, release it, audio tune works

  • Note
    • If the green light goes out completely of fails to come on or if the unit is making unfamiliar audio tunes, the unit is unstable and should not be used until the battery is recharged or replaced.
    • If the unit is not to be used for a certain length of time it is advisable to remove the battery to avoid battery leakage which could cause serious damage to the detector
    • When not in use, the detector should be stored in a dry warm environment.

    OPERATION

    LOW SENSITIVITY OPERATION

    SUPER SCANNER MD1001B is an active hand-held metal detector designed to find metal (ferrous, nonferrous and stainless steel) weapons, contraband or other objects carried on a person or concealed by a nonmetal object.
    When used properly, it is extremely effective in detecting even the smallest objects

    Components / Function:
    • Power Switch- To turn the detector on, set the switch to the On position.
    • Audio Alert- The speaker provides a clearly audible sound whenever metal is detected.
    • When using the optional earphone accessory, the audio alert will only sound through the earphone.
    • The Audio Alert also indicates battery condition.
    • When approximately 10% of battery life remains, the sound when metal is detected changes from a warble to a steady tone.

    Sensitivity Adjustment:
    1. The sensitivity shall be adjusted when performance instability is observed or sound is produced when detecting human body without any metal stuff because the detection distance is less than the stipulated requirement or the sensitivity is too high.

    MD3003B3 BODY SCANNER METAL DETECTOR

    The Body Scanner / Metal Detector is ideal for using at airports, industrial sites, government buildings, schools, hospitals, conferences, sport events, and anywhere you need security. It's sensitive enough to detect metal objects the size of a 25 cent piece. It sounds a high pitched tone whenever it detects metal ¨C a longer tone for larger objects and shorter one for smaller objects. You can use rechargeable nickel-cadmium battery for power and recharge it in the Body Scanner.

    Its features include:
    1. Red LED indicator lights when the Body Scanner detects metal.
    2. Desensitize Button reduces the Body Scanner sensitivity by about 50 percent, so you scan near floors, which contain large amounts of steel reinforcement, or only for large objects.
    3. Earphone jack lets you connect an optional earphone to the Body Scanner so you can scan with privacy.
    Installing the battery
    The Body Scanner / Metal Detector requires one 9V (6F22) battery for power. We recommend using an alkaline battery. You can also use a rechargeable nickel\cadmium battery with a proper AC adapter.

    Notes:
    • If you use a rechargeable nickel-cadmium battery. You must charge it before operating. See "Charging a nickel-cadmium Battery. "
    • Never leave a or weak battery in the Body Scanner.
    • If you do not plan to use the Body Scanner for several days remove the battery.
    Follow these steps to install the battery:
    1. Remover the battery compartment cover.
    2. Carefully remove the old battery.
    3. Insert a new battery into the battery compartment. Make sure battery in connected with proper polarities " +" and " -" otherwise could damage the detector
    4. Close battery compartment cover.
    When the battery starts to get low, the Body Scanner makes a "chirping" sound instead of a smooth steady sound, and the indicator flashes on and offer rapidly when it detects metal. Replace the battery. Or recharge it if you inserted a rechargeable nickel-cadmium battery. (You need a AC adapter, which must supply 12 volts DC, its center tip must be set to positive, it must deliver at least 10mA. And its plug must correctly fit the body scanner's Charge/earphone jack. The recommended Radio Shack AC adapter meets these requirements. Using an AC adapter that does not meet these requirements could damage the Body Scanner or the AC adapter.)

    Warning Do not try to recharge alkaline or other non-rechargeable batteries. They might explode.
    Charging A Nickel-Cadmium Battery
    1. Set ON / OFF to OFF and install the battery in the Body Scanner.
    2. Insert the AC adapter 's plug into Body Scanner Charge / earphone jack.
    3. Plug the AC adapter's other end into a standard AC outlet.
    4. Charge the battery for 14 to 16 hours
    5. Unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet first. Then unplug it from the charging jack.
    Note Let the nickel-cadmium battery fully discharge once in a while before you recharge it.

    Important :
    The Body Scanner is capable of using a rechargeable nickel-cadmium battery. When the battery is exhausted, it must be recycled or disposed properly.
    How to use the Body Scanner
    1. Set ON/OFF to NO to turn the Body Scanner on, or to OFF to turn if off. When it is turned off. The audio will " chirp" once for few seconds. This is normal.
    2. To conserve battery life. Always make sure the Body Scanner is off when not in use.
    3. The Body Scanner sounds a high-pitched tone whenever it detects metal a longer tone for larger objects, and a shorter one for smaller objects.
    4. Before using the body Scanner, always test it by turning it on and scanning a small metal object ( such as a quarter ) to make sure the tone sounds and the indicator lights. Using a smooth, even speeds to scan. It sounds a high-pitched tone whenever it detects metal.
    Adjusting the Body Scanner Sensitivity
    The Body Scanner is set to the optimum sensitivity level for most security scanning applications. You can adjust the sensitivity level of specialized applications, which require higher or lower sensitivity.
    1. Remove rubber cover form handle. There are two small holes in the middle.
    2. Insert the tip of a small screwdriver through the 1/8 inch hole in the handle until it touches the adjustment control inside. ( see figure 1 adjustable hole is sensitivity. Do not adjust the second hole next to it, which is reserved only for factor use.)
    3. Turn the screwdriver slowly until its tip fits in the control slot.
    4. Using a test object, adjust the control for the desired sensitivity clockwise to increase or counterclockwise to decrease. Sensitivity. Keep the same desired distance between detector and test object, adjust the control until detector begins to sound. This is your desired sensitivity.
    5. Put the rubber cover back to handle.


    Using Earphone
    You can use your Body Scanner with an earphone that has 1/8 inch plug, so you can hear the alarm through the earphones. Insert the earphone's plug into the Body Scanner Charge/earphone jack on the bottom of the wand. The external sound cuts off automatically.

    Maintenance
    The Body Scanner is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the Body Scanner so you can use it for years.
    1. Keep the Body Scanner dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids that contain minerals can corrode the electronic circuits.
    2. Handle the Body Scanner gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the circuit boards and case and can cause the Body Scanner to work improperly.
    3. Use and store the Body Scanner only in normal temperature environments. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices by distorting plastic parts.
    4. Clean the Body Scanner with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looks new. DO not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the body scanner.
    5. Modifying or tampering with the scanner's internal pats can cause a malfunction.

This product adopted large scale integrated circuit (LSI). It can be charge by using 9V rechargeable battery. Has low battery indicator, LED with buzzer or vibration alarm. It is a good helper for security detecting.

    Battery
    1. The battery lid can be opened by pushing backward with thumb at the concave groove. Install the 6F22.S006P (9V) battery according to the anode and cathode signs on the battery lid. Cover with the battery lid and push forward firmly.
    2. Grasp the handle and press the button "Sound Alarm Switch" or "Vibration Alarm Switch", the power has been connected. Green "PW" LED turns on. After 1~2 seconds Self-calibrating, the detector under the normal sensitivity mode.
    3. The Search Area scans over a metal target, for example: a coin, you can hear the audio alarm from the Buzzer, and the red Alert LED turns on.
    4. When the detector turns on and is not detecting metal objects, you hear a durative audio alert, and the red "Low Battery Indicator LED" turns on. It indicates that your should replace the battery. For good detecting function and result, we suggest replace a new battery or charge it in time.
    Operation
    • Body Scanning Procedure
      1. Scanning the front body from the right shoulder and move done to the right ankle, from the right ankle to the left, and move up to the left shoulder.
      2. Scanning the back body form the head, move along the outline of the body, and over the left hand, the left leg, and move from the left ankle to the right ankle, then along the right leg and hand up to the right shoulder, from the neck move along the spine
      3. While scanning the ankle and feet area, holding the detector level to the ground about 1~2 inches above the surface. When a detecting is being done near the ground, reduce the sensitivity. ( Note: for good detecting effect, far from a very trashy ground).
    • Sensitivity Adjustment:
      1. The sensitivity shall be adjusted when performance instability is observed or sound is produced when detecting human body without any metal stuff because the detection distance is less than the stipulated requirement or the sensitivity is too high.
      2. Rotate the Sensitivity Adjuster clockwise, until there is no sound from the buzzer, then counter-clockwise barely to the position where a sound is produced, then rotate for another half a circle clockwise, until the sensitivity meets the requirement.
    • Detection distance:
      The sensitivity of the detector is determined primarily by the size, shape and composition of the object to be detected. Typical performance figures are given below:
